HE'S won the X Factor, but can Joe McElderry win his mentor, Cheryl Cole's heart?
The Girls Aloud singer has split from her footballer husband Ashley Cole following a fortnight of uncertainty after claims the England star had been unfaithful during the pair's three-and-a-half-year marriage.

nd while his odds are slim, 18-year-old Joe, from South Shields, is still in the running at 33/1 according to William Hill.

Long odds are nothing to worry about. Joe was once 20/1 to win The X Factor, and went on to be crowned the winner.

The pair's Geordie roots cemented their friendship, and her support during his time on the ITV1 show saw her regularly telling the viewers she loved him.

Cheryl, who also made it big on a TV talent show, told the former Harton Technology College student in quarter final week: "I absolutely love you to pieces," although she had said he was like a little brother in previous weeks.

Rupert Adams from William Hill said: "Joe has to be a contender as they became very close over The X Factor.

"I think they are more brother and sister than boyfriend and girlfriend, but you never know."

Cheryl's X Factor boss Simon Cowell also equals Joe's long odds of 33/1.

Hope this is allowed....

I was planning to be on holiday in the UK in March, but I got laid off from my job so it's not happening, and now I have an extra X Factor tour ticket that I'd like not to go to waste (and I could really use the money now that I'm unemployed)

I'd like to sell it for £25 (I paid £36)-- it's a great seat, too!

Let me know if interested!

Stacey Solomon's toddler son Zach was dancing as his mum waited for Lucie Jones to finish in the make-up chair.

Lloyd Daniels was having a spray tan, Danyl Johnson was smoking outside on a fire escape while Olly Murs sat quietly watching Everton versus Man Utd on his laptop.

Danyl returned from his break to find Jedward had hacked into his Twitter account asking his fans to buy their single.

Later, as the twins tried to crawl under a curtain to interrupt Joe McElderry meeting some fans, Jamie Archer shrugged.

He said: "They are like this all the time - it never stops. It drives some people mad."

But not Jamie, who is wise enough at 34 to appreciate his place on a tour so popular that organisers had to add 20 extra dates.

Earlier he sat patiently with with Lloyd playing guitar to help him warm up his voice and clearly acts as a father figure.

Joe at first looked to have gone all rock and roll, clutching a pint of lager at lunchtime.

But disappointingly it turned out to be green tea.

He was protective of his mentor Cheryl Cole, saying she had called to wish him good luck on the tour despite her marriage woes.

He added: "She was amazing at the Brits."

All the gang get along. A crew member explained: "They are a more balanced group this year, maybe because they're younger.

"Jamie and Danyl are older and they have a good attitude. Last year there were more egos.

X Factor winner JOE McELDERRY deserves a skiing holiday after the RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE campaign.

If that happened to me I would have been a little upset.

So I'm so pleased that Joe is the first chart topper of 2010.

He's going to have girls throwing themselves at him!
